On Wednesday at 1:30pm (Eastern) I'll be speaking at a webinar sponsored by PR News Online focused on PR's role in managing and mitigating a crisis.
(It's only $329, and you're encouraged to have everyone in your
location all watch it in a conference room. And you get a great deck
of slides.)
My focus is in how to identify and react to a crisis
online. The two examples I use in my talk and my PR News Online
article this week both share something in common. In both cases each
party actually got several days breathing time between the moment the
crisis appeared to the time that they responded. In both cases they
had six days or more.
Six days is an eternity in Internet
time, and how you spend those six days (or less, preferably) composing
your first statement is crucial. Why? Because your first statement or
response defines the issue and allows the Internet's global
conversation to begin to debate your conflict. Once you've responded
the Internet chatterbox kicks into high gear and your position has been
cast.
It's an inexpensive webinar, and if more than one person
from your organization attends, you'll be getting a great value. You
can register here.
